| I am elated about Unrivaled. This was my Christmas gift to myself: watching Unrivaled on January 5th! However, which genius decided to start the season on a Monday, during the day time and the middle of the day. 12pm. I don't turn my TV on until like, 8pm usually so I'm just kind of sitting here looking, but these first 2 games should have been done at night or on a weekend Alright with that out the way...I'm hoping for a phenomenal season, low injuries, low ejections, low drama and professional officiating. Now I've never been a true football fan, but football is so popular that you are going to root for a college you may be connected to. Or, you're gonna root for an athlete because of their backstory, or you'll root for a city; or you root for whoever your family is rooting for so basically, there's just always some emotional connection somewhere, regardless of the sport. | Rose and Vinyl.I'm still shocked. Vinyl beat the Lunar Owls, just wowwwwwwwwwww. Oddly for me I had the dates all mixed up. I could have sworn that the playoffs started March 18th. So I was getting ready to bake some chocolate chip cookies, listening to speeches from Angie Stone's 🌷homegoing services, and looking to see if there were any Unsung episodes on EnVogue. I had been really wanting to see some documentaries about them and was talking to my husband about it. So then I guess he noticed that I wasn't talking about Basketball, and being that he surprised me with a Vinyl t-shirt the other week, he said "You know the Vinyl plays tonight." I was like, "What!? That's got to be a replay or some type of exhibition I didn't know about. The games don't come back on until the 18th." So well I ended up coming in 3rd quarter where the Rose and Lace were head to head, Angel Reese was on the bench in street clothes and I figured it was her wrist. There was a new girl and then Chelsea was being Chelsea. Absolutely phenomenal. ------------ I was not even expecting a half way close game with Vinyl vs Lunar Owls. Vinyl had just gotten blown out by the Rose so I didn't know where they were going. I expected a huge blowout and also expected the Lunar Owl to blow out whoever else made it to the finals against them.I actually was sweeping because I'm like it would be ridiculous for me to expect anything different than a blow out. I saw how they were keeping the game close and I was like well that is very good and notable, but the Lunar Owls are gonna break loose and go crazy and rack up points everywhere nonstop Even when Vinyl outperformed them in the 4th and the game stayed extremely close I still thought the Lunar Owls would take off and dominate, even if for the last few seconds. I didn't think this was possible...When Vinyl was leading 71 to 70 and whoever gets to 73 first wins, I ran down the hallway and told my husband "Whoever scores next wins." (Assuming Lunar Owls hit a 3).Then when we won I told my husband "Biggggggggggg upset. This feels like an NFL upset to me." lol I use NFL as an example because along with college football that's the other sport where the whole world (country) is tuned in. So Wow!On to the Finals. I kept telling my husband thank you so much for telling me the games were on, I would have died had I missed my faves take down the Lunar Owls live. | |||||

| My 💓💓💓my heart was beating so dang on fast when it was Plum 8 and Chelsea 8, then 10. Cause all Kelsey Plum needed was a 3 to win and she almost had it. Chelsea was also down 8 to 0.When it got 8 to 8, Chelsea hit a 2 and then later another 2, so final was 12 to 8 I give Plum credit for her great defense, those girls be taking some hits. Alright, Allisha Gray vs Aliyah Boston, again, love em' both.I don't care who wins, I'm just glad the champion will be Black!Because I tell ya, this was close, between Plum and Paige it came very close to a yt being in the finals and ultimately winning. Since sports rarely go my way the past decade or so.... So alright, I can relax now, Happy Valentine's Day WOW they are hooping. Gray went up 8 to 0, then Aliyah went on a run and it's 10 Aliyah to 9 GrayCan they both just win?Allisha hits a logo 3 to win and her interview is why I started loving her, that girl has the cutest accent 💓I love how she talks lolI loved Aliyah Boston's smile at the end 🏀Alright Gray vs GrayI think Gray has all the momentum. Gray wins round 1, 7 to 0.Lol at myself for the "Gray" joke. I love Gray with all my heart, but I think I'm gonna root a little more for Gray since she had been having some tough challenges and frustrations with her performances-I think in the first round she was still mad and got a technical -Geez I can't imagine how tired they are. They are tired. And they are amazing.Wow, Chelsea is up 6 to 3. Allisha started off on fire We're headed to Game 3, the final one.Round 1 was AllishaRound 2 was ChelseaI'm rooting more for Allisha I'm bout to die OMG this is amazing.I'mma stand up I wish they both could winOMG Chelsea hits a 3 and wins. I don't know why, I guess I'm just not trained or something, but that was a weird finish by Jackie Young and possibly should have been a double dribble or travel according to the commentators but they didn't say much. Courtney Williams, guest commentator was like "a W is a W." Well, I'm just thrilled that the officiating in my opinion is light years better than last season. I hope I'm right about that. I know Candace Parker mentioned the questionable calls after the first game. And questionable calls are to be expected sometimes but we can't have anything like last year and the WNBA, hell the NBA playoffs that I was watching. There also haven't been that many technical fouls, there have been no fights, and no one has been ejected! This is awesome and I think, a result of the better, more professional officiating. | |||||

| Alright, so the fun has went away so much and I hate that. My sis and I were enjoying the positive vibes and hearing about everyone getting along, having watch parties with no drama, and just genuinely got damn, something nice. Then some hoe ass fans comes and mess things up. I know that 90 something percent were not violent, but it has still ruined the entire energy of everything for me.I was very triggered over the Wemby thing. It's one thing when fans (who are equal status, regular citizens) are into it, but a player should be protected and it just has an extremely disturbing effect on me when I see Black people with the highest status possible still not being protected. So I made sure to not watch the video. But my mood and excitement crashed once I heard about that, no reason why that person should not have been arrested! 😡😡 Alright. gonna move forward... I have never seen the nation this tuned in to Basketball unless it was during the Jordan era.Usually it's football. I did enjoy chatting with Moonflower and catching her up on a few sports facts since she said she has no clue about the sports stuff so I mentioned a few things, such as: -------Football is "god" in this country and our home state of Alabama. Then the whole Alabama Roll Tide and Auburn Tigers (where her auntie went, so thus, we're Auburn fans) Except her dad, as she knows....UAB! And that she has to hate Alabama Crimson Tide because she's in this family. I'm glad we don't live in a city with a national sports team because as I was reading comments from Spurs fans, Knicks fans, Cleveland fans, Atlanta fans etc throughout the playoffs....woooh, the pain pain pain. They be mentioning how they're still traumatized from years and decades ago when their teams lost in devastating ways.Okay, I have to say I am glad I can't relate to that pain except like with Serena Williams to break that record! And of course you don't have to live directly in a city to be a huge sports fan, but for the people with a personal connection to the cities they are definitely on another level of fandom than what I am for any cities or colleges. However, if we're talking my fandom for individual athletes like Venus, Serena, Coco, Simone...yeah, that's where I will be climbing on a roof myself lol.------- Looking at NBA Tip Off with Ernie, Shaq, Kenny and Charles, I really enjoyed the segment where they had this man on there, a legend, George "Iceman" Gervin. He played in the 70's. I don't recall knowing about him, but I thoroughly enjoyed listening to him, and funny how Kenny mentioned how every kid who serious about Basketball had to have that Iceman poster. Cool! ------ Alright let's get this over with I guess.Game 5, in San Antonio.Knicks lead 3 to 1. | |||||

| RE: Still Calming Down Over New York Knicks vs Indiana Pacers | 1 Relevance | 2 weeks ago | Faith Black | Zuri Art & Culture | |
| Alright, it's over. I had thoroughly enjoyed, to my surprise, this entire playoff season. Now that doesn't mean it wasn't rough along the way, man, Donovan Mitchell & 'nem, Cleveland Cavaliers blowing that lead, and dang what happened to Kevin Durant? Rough, disappointing moments but there were no fights, no devastating injuries, and I stayed off social media/podcasts/loudmouths etc, all the nasty never-ending negativity didn't ruin this for me, as I've had to learn the hard way (Now, I do read on reddit but only in the sections that are tightly moderated up to my standards). No algorithm and all that crap Only at the very end when I heard about that incident I mentioned above; and that incident couldn't be avoided by me; it was everywhere. So this brings me to realizing that me trying to avoid every trigger does not work. To protect my mental health, I have eliminated an incredible amount of exposures (very minimun social media, stopped following just about everyone, I don't browse trying to find movies-that's rare, radio talk..just anything, tons and tons, of course staying out of comment sections etc) and the triggers still slip through sometimes. But nothing like how it used to be, but it's still tiring. Because I simply can't, there's no need to, eliminate anything further than what I already have. Society itself, the world itself, is the wound. So there's no standard way for me to avoid my particular triggers because they are embedded just....everywhere. Can show up in any environment, anytime: Watching Sports While Remembering I'm Still a Winner So I wasn't sure if I wanted to see the celebration because of that violence incident and I did feel bad for San Antonio, being soooooo young and dare and I say the most good-looking, beautiful team I've ever seen lol. I was like I just don't know what to do, my husband said, "Be happy they're about to win something they haven't won in forever" (something along those lines)And just hearing him say that, help me snap back to: +how much I absolutely like the players, both teams seem to be full of nice guys+Look at this topic, clearly the Knicks moved me last year and I definitely wanted them to advance further because they/their fans were more exciting to watch than Indiana+I had no clue about Knick fandom until last year when I made this thread so yeah.... +Moonflower just happen to be standing near and I asked her "Hey, want to see your first ever Basketball championship. 7 seconds left." And thankfully she stuck around for a good while; and mommy certainly needed that. ---------- | |||||

| Small Victory: Congrats Angel Reese and Chicago Sky | 1 Relevance | 10 months ago | Faith Black | Zuri Art & Culture | |
| I like the New York Liberty; however, I was glad to see Angel Reese finally back. It has been an extremely depressing season with so many injuries. Plus, I hate whoever makes the schedules...it makes no sense. One day there will be no games, or maybe 1 game. The next day, the entire rest of the league is playing. And good luck trying to find a game. Just absolutely ridiculous. You will find one game while 4 other games are going on at the same time. Pathetic. So this is not Angel's first game back, it's definitely the first one I've been able to catch. I asked AI:august 21, the chicago sky and angel reese shockingly defeated the new york liberty, 91 to 85. Though chicago wont make the playoffs, write a cutesy blog posts about the game, statistics, angel reese's return, kamilla cordosa's amazing game, and theresa weatherspoon, t spoon embracing angel reese and ange reese's excitement to embrace theresa weatherspoon ** Cutie-Pies on the Court: Sky vs. Liberty (August 21, 2025)** 1. A Sweet(ish) Upset & Big Stats LoveOn Thursday, August 21, 2025, the Chicago Sky—already officially out of playoff contention—managed to pull a surprise on the reigning champs, the New York Liberty, with a 91–85 win at Barclays Center. Kamilla Cardoso went all-out, scoring 22 points and grabbing a career-high 16 rebounds. Meanwhile, Angel Reese made her return look amazing, delivering 21 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 assists—together, the duo dominated inside the paint. The Sky outscored New York 52 points in the paint to 26, outrebounded them 42 to 27, and got to the free-throw line a whopping 14 more times. Ariel Atkins sprinkled in 19 points (9 came in the fourth quarter), and Michaela Onyenwere added 13, giving the Sky some tasty offensive toppings. 2. Angel’s Return—Sparkling with ShineAngel’s comeback was absolutely heart-eye emoji worthy—she looked fresh, fierce, and fabulous. Believe it or not, she helped reclaim the Sky’s spark, turning a struggling squad into one that finished strong. Her double-double was a graceful reminder she’s a force to be reckoned with. 3. Kamilla Cardoso’s Superpower PerformanceCardoso was nothing short of a superhero inside the lane: 22 points, 16 rebounds, and even snagging 5 assists—she was like a Swiss Army knife but in uniform. On the boards, she was the Sky’s MVP (Most Valuable Pivot). Her presence inside was the kind of impact that makes you fist-pump and shout “YES!” 4. Stats N’ Silly Love 21 lead changes and 11 ties? Talk about a roller-coaster! The Sky went 50% from the field and scored 52 points in the paint—talk about getting cozy in the key. Meanwhile, the Liberty cooled off from deep: 10-of-20 in the first half… but just 3-of-17 (18%) after halftime. Ouch. 5. Liberty’s Boo-Boos (While Sweet, They Could’ve Been Sweeter)Despite 25 points from Jonquel Jones (including a career-high-tying five 3-pointers) and solid contributions from Sabrina Ionescu (16) and Natasha Cloud (14), the Liberty felt a little “meh” on effort, especially rebounding and physicality. Head coach Sandy Brondello was especially "disappointed" in the team’s lack of spark and rallying presence 6. T-Spoon & Angel’s Adorable Moment (There are some photos and videos out there) 💐💐 Wrap-Up: In Cute We Trust Even though the Sky are out of playoff dreams, this game was hands down a highlight—shining center magic, emotional return, and unforgettable hustle. Angel Reese and Camilla Cardoso delivered a masterclass in inside Basketball. The Liberty’s lack of intensity? Well, they’ll have to dust that off and rebound (pun intended) as the playoffs loom. Meanwhile, our mental storyboard of T-Spoon meeting Angel Reese is just too sweet not to cherish—it’s the kind of sports fairy tale beam friends bond over for seasons. 🏀🏀🏀🏀 My WNBA Replays: (Hey what a cute title lol) May 2024: WNBA Women Don't Owe Clark a Damn Thing November 2024: I Went Back to the WNBA (and left again) | |||||
