Positive TV: Abbott Elementary is Head of the Class

I truly enjoyed Season 3 Episode 1. I was so glad it was an hour long because I’m never ready for the show to end after just 30 minutes.
I hope the rest of the season will continue to be A+.

WOW! 10 out of 10. #AbbottElementary by Quinta Brunson
A show that actually humanizes Black children. Hell it’s nearly impossible to come across a social media post that’s positive towards Black children.
I swear I didn’t think it was possible for me to enjoy any show made in the past 20 years or so. Impossible because I haven’t seen anything on TV that by my standards, portray Black people as complex, real human beings. No trauma.
For instance, the little girl in the photo was a very difficult and disruptive student. Turns out she was misbehaving because the material was too easy for her; she was bored, needed to skip a grade and needed to be challenged.

Most adults, including most Black adults, always demonize Black children without ever caring to look deeper into who they are as people.
I quit my activism work that centered around uplifting, honoring and empowering all Black children (not just the “perfect” ones). I quit because I had to spend most of my time online arguing as to why for instance, 15 year-old Ma’Khia Bryant deserved to live.
I quit and went to therapy. Cause chile’ these hateful grown folks out here on this innanet make me want to hurt them.
Anyway, I will never trust Hollywood nor am I giving it credit for anything. However, thanks to Ms. Quinta Brunson’s vision and heart it is refreshing that for just a few minutes out of the year, somewhere, there are Black children being treated the way they should be.

I’m so glad my sister kept asking me to check out the show last year. I refused to watch at first. I hate media/Hollywood I’m bitter…blah blah blah so anyway I said there is no way they will allow my Black babies to be shown on TV as what they truly are: innocent, adorable, funny & hardworking children, gifts who deserve better than the world could ever offer.
WRONG!
I said well okay, they will switch up the formula for Season 2 because there’s no way they will allow 2 seasons of beautiful (low income-not Cosby kids) of Black babies being shown in their truthful bright light all while portraying the extreme challenges teachers and school staff face but doing it in a non-traumatic manner, plus they gotta continue to portray the “poor Black parents” with humanity.
It will never happen for 2 seasons in a row.
WRONG Again.
I’m glad to have been wrong. And it’s the best show since the Golden Girls, A Different World, Amen, 227, Facts of Life…
