Sinners, the first original film by Ryan Coogler, is mesmerizing audiences, sparking meaningful conversations and honoring the intriguing evolution of American music and the soulful roots of American culture. The passion, brilliance and artistic vision of Ryan Coogler takes Sinners beyond being an entertaining movie and make it a layered, emotional and empowering experience that stays with viewers long after the credits roll.
Blending mesmerizing elements of supernatural horror, drama, thriller, romance, blues-soaked music, and high-stakes action, Sinners unfolds over one eventful day in 1932 Clarksdale, Mississippi. In a story both meaningful and haunting, a tight-knit Black community triumphantly opens a juke joint—only to find themselves forced to defend it against a rising army of vampires lurking just beyond the fields. Each beat of the story reveals new layers of rebirth, respect, and legacy.
Michael B. Jordan portrays twin brothers, Smoke and Stack.
📝Plot
Trying to leave their troubled lives behind, twin brothers (Jordan) return to their hometown to start again, only to discover that an even greater evil is waiting to welcome them back.
⭐A larger-than-life story: Quote from Sinners writer and director Ryan Coogler
“I knew it would be a period piece and a horror movie, so I knew film made the most sense for that,” Coogler said. “But after getting into the research of the project and learning the epic scale of the contribution of Delta Blues when it comes to global popular culture, how this music kinda launched pop music as we know it … I realized that this was a larger-than-life story.”
Lindsey Bahr of the Associated Press states, "It’s something that needs to be seen to be believed, right down to Coogler’s longtime collaborator Michael B. Jordan playing identical twins. And it’s already a critical hit."

Okay then! I have not seen it, and was definitely going to avoid it, because of my plethora of challenges as it relates to race and my ongoing healing journey.
My sister saw the movie on Thursday night with her daughters in Atlanta; and after what she texted me, I'm grateful to say that this movie might help push me a bit more forward on my race healing journey.
🪕"Literally the best movie I've seen in years!!!!
I'm trying to think of something better. It's up there with the best of the best.
People were outside of the movie talking about it. People stayed in the theater!
Absolutely incredible movie! Go see it!!!
It's nothing like you think or imagine it would be.
Ryan Coogler is a next level genius director

Her:
It's his career defining movie-
It sets him miles way from any black director before him
And puts him at the top of the list of the best of the best white directors
I'm so proud of him! It was objectively brilliant
Me
I'm elated to hear this. This helps me heal
Her:
Being from the Deep South-yall will cry-not because of black trauma per se
But because he really got it blessed by the ancestors-you're gonna feel connected to our ancestors
Nobody has connected the blood, sweat and tears of our ancestors and their spirit that runs deep within us today-the way he has
It took the right black man-with direct connection to do this!
Me: Wow Amen 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
