I gratefully, watched this very helpful video yesterday; as I needed soothing, reminders, and to refocus.
No matter how much work I do, it is difficult to remember every single lesson all the time.
So being that I had been feeling bothered, hurt, the past few weeks because of something I heard on the radio, then, hearing about that tragic case where the young man had a right to defend himself; and then, a savage throws at an NBA player during the NBA Finals, and then another savage deciding to speak ill of one of the most amazing, accomplished and talented women to ever live.

And this is with me staying out of comments, and basically staying off social media, podcasts etc however, these things were not easy to avoid knowing about. I can only isolate myself so much from the world, and Lord knows, I have built barriers and isolated so much. But I realize, isolation alone isn't the full answer.

So back to this, let me focus:
1)EXTERNAL-->the radio show
2)EXTERNAL-->the tragic teenager case
3)EXTERNAL-->My First Lady
4)EXTERNAL-->NBA player

What is personal light?

In the video, Iyanla Vanzant defines personal light as a reflection of an individual's self-awareness and self-reliance.

Key aspects of this concept include:

  • Inner Wisdom and Intuition: Your personal light is activated when you learn to trust your own inner guidance

  • Core Values: This light intensifies when you hold and live by values that help you navigate your life, rather than relying on external validation or direction from others

  • Spark of Divinity: The concept is rooted in the belief that everyone possesses an inherent "spark of divinity" within them, which serves as their source of power

Iyanla emphasizes that the purpose of this light is not to shine for others, but to help you see yourself more clearly.

This light is considered independent of external circumstances, allowing one to remain grounded regardless of what is happening in the world.

Please consult with a mental health or wellness professional for personalized guidance regarding your spiritual or emotional well-being.

What is the Summer Solstice?

The Summer Solstice is described as a celebration of light and a significant seasonal turning point. According to the video, it carries several symbolic meanings:

  • A Reminder of Inner Light: The solstice serves as a reminder that light does not just come from the sun above, but from a "spark of divinity" within each person. It invites individuals to consider if they are the light they have been seeking

  • A Sacred Checkpoint: The solstice is viewed as an invitation to pause and reflect on one's personal growth since the winter. It encourages self-examination to determine what truths, gifts, or awareness have come into "full light" within oneself

  • Illumination of Truth: Because it represents the day with the most light, it is a time to bring hidden aspects of one's life into the open—whether those are accomplishments, fears, or areas requiring realignment.

  • Gratitude and Alignment: The solstice is framed as a time to practice gratitude for what is working in one's life and to ensure one's daily choices and values are in alignment with their inner authority.

Throughout the video, Iyanla Vanzant encourages viewers to use the period of the Summer Solstice as a sacred checkpoint to ask themselves several reflective questions about their inner growth and alignment:

  • What has come into full light within you? Since the winter, what has shown up, grown, or become clear in your vision, dreams, or desires?
  • What truth can no longer be hidden? What is the truth within or about you that needs to come to the light—be it a talent, a gift, or a habit that needs cleaning up?

  • Where have you grown and what have you outgrown? She asks you to identify areas of personal development and what you may still be holding onto that no longer serves you.
  • What deserves celebration? Reflect on your accomplishments and victories, even amidst world events.
  • What requires realignment? What have you stepped away from or need to stop doing to remain in harmony with your values?
  • What is working in your life? Amidst challenges, she urges you to identify blessings and positive aspects of your life that you may have overlooked.
  • Are you living in alignment with your values? She asks you to conduct a value inventory to ensure your actions match your stated values (e.g., freedom, peace, or joy).

  • What is seeking a fuller expression through you? She invites you to find the gifts or talents that want to be expressed in your daily life.
  • What in me is ready to shine? Used during the alignment meditation, this core question invites you to consider what talent, gift, power, or understanding is prepared to be revealed.

As you explore these questions, consider consulting a professional regarding your emotional or spiritual well-being.
