It's been a while since I've had the emotional strength to watch movies. Yes, animated family movies have been fine for me, but when I'm at my lowest (like 2024) I still have to be careful with those. Like when watching The Wild Robot, I was like "please, keep the message gentle and positive. Don't need any harsh life lessons in every thing. Let the animals all be happy forever and ever lol"

Thankfully all was well. Which reminds me, I absolutely need to see The Great Migration! 🦆🦆🦆🦆🦆

So when it comes to the type of movies that I usually watch alone and with my cat Luna lol🐈‍⬛(thrillers, dramas, and occasional horrors) this is where I've had to stay away from once my healing journey started getting rough and overwhelming. I'm not the problem though. The problem is that too many movie-makers, be it the writers, directors, or whatever, they think that cruel and unusual punishment is a form of entertainment.

In fact, they know it's not entertainment, they simply do not care. All they care about is the shock value. Sometimes it can be just 1 perverted sentence that makes me turn a movie off. I be like how in the world did this line pass censoring, child safety laws or whatever; there has got to be some guidelines out there but what they allow is the bare minimum guidelines. Honestly though, Hollywood has always been unhealthy, I think by it being so many more movies and shows easily available, that I've just been unlucky and running into them.

So even though I'm doing light years better than I was last year-because healing is a process; not that I was doing anything wrong-but I'm further along and have made so much progress, and I'm kind of ready to watch my type of tense movies again. (I hate comedy and romance, lol)

I'm still not even browsing any streaming services yet to see what I might attempt to watch, because I'm so convinced that most movie-makers (who actually says movie-makers?), well anyway, most movie-makers do not have worthy intentions. I mean, I know the bottom line is money but there should be huge responsibility involved regarding the type of work that's allowed to be publicly available.

They use their talent, privilege and power to satisfy and validate whatever type of desires and issues they have inside them.

These 2 guys, I won't dare name in this beautiful topic here, but these 2 thangs, yeah, but they are not the only ones who use degrading, dangerous and explicit content towards unprotected groups in their work. I've come across quite a few white thriller movies where they are using child abuse as some normal plot line. Certain crimes belong in a carefully constructed documentary, but not in a movie with the main purpose of entertainment. I feel the same way about slavery, racism and so on. People always say, well the stories need to be told. Chile shut up. Historical stories should always be told but not when the bottom line is money and entertainment.

I said all that to say...I knew that I would be able to emotionally handle Mary J. Blige's new movie because I saw the other 2 installments so she completely has my trust. I watched it and enjoyed it. I love seeing people who look like me shown in movies where they are actually represented as people, humans, and not all that other mess that movie-makers push out as the only way to represent people who look like me.
