With the exception of Unrivaled Women's 3x3 Basketball League.
Even then I have to make sure I stay off social media, hell, the Internet period. Like, if you just type in a player's name ray cyst (sound it out) Google brings up all types of hatred.
Sick of it all.
(I do go on WNBA and Unrivaled reddit pages for now, because they are well-moderated up to my standards.)
The media said "We don't care about destroying regular nobody Black people anymore. Let's go full speed ahead and pick some Black athletes to destroy, since their names bring in more clicks. It's never about using their names for objective facts and reporting, or for uplifting, or even just discussing the sports. There is another level of attack and hatred on Black public figures.
Also, since they can't attack every single Black athlete simultaneously, they cherry pick several, get the smear campaign and propaganda machine going against them, which will cause clicks the spike tremendously since most people are already wired to hate, and then you have the other side like me who used to be on sites and social media ferociously defending people.
So the media gets both ends: the hate mongers and the people defending the athlete against the hate mongers.
It's all about inciting rage in vulnerable and unprotected people like me, triggering us, and listen, I have worked extremely hard to free myself from that spell.
Along with the media, regular nobody's who most likely can't even get up off their stanky sunk in couches, these out of shape, lazy ass nobodies be in comment sections on Black athletes pages, so again, thank heavens I no longer click on any of that hate.
Since the media picks and chooses who they want to e-lynch, most people are not smart enough to realize that the attack is really on all Blackness but the media and thus society just uses some athletes as their target. They're not attacking the athlete's actions, but they are attacking their Blackness and sending a message to all Black people.
That's how it worked on the ships, plantations and after plantations. They choose people to use as an example of "this is what happens to you when you step out of your place."
Now, I'm not backing out of sports because I feel sorry for Black people, my race or anything. No baby, I am healing and not carrying all this nonsense on my shoulders anymore. The majority of Black people make it loud and clear online who they side with, and it ain't with people like me. They side with the power, no matter how corrupt.
So do you.
Whatever the majority of my race believes has nothing to do with me. I have finally learned to have boundaries after all these years (since a kid).
I have boundaries, I don't care who it is, you're not crossing my scared space unless you're worthy and agree with me on all these hot topics. Lol.
Basic respect is all it is.
I ain't trying to educate, save, inspire, uplift...bitch please. Especially all these what they call themselves, "Black conservatives"...man fuck all these nutjobs.
Regardless of political party, regardless of who anyone votes for, it has nothing to do with people's character!
So I don't care what my race believes or does at this point. I used to deeply care and fight for better, but I don't give a fuck how much the loudest muthfckers in my race love corruption.
This is all about character, core beliefs, and things that can't be taught or bought.
"My race" = man-made labels and categories that no longer rules or defines every aspect of my life anymore. (This started in 2012 with our beloved Trayvon Martin tragedy).
I had to learn what it truly means to be Black and chile the negative folks on social media shole taught me.
So I learned being Black is about being me and acknowledging the uniqueness, fun and flavor that Black culture gave me. I had a very good family and friends so that made all the difference.
My character and core beliefs though, are not related to being labeled Black or whatever other millions of labels.
My spirit, my core, my mind body and soul are not created by this world's labels.
So someone being "my race" should not carry any extra meaning particularly with these online idiots. Now offline, depending on the situation I do seek out a Black professional for different personal things I may need
---------------
So staying clear of sports is not about boycotting or trying to encourage my race to realize the power (some) of them have, none of all that mess.
It's just that this is the point I am on my healing journey. And who knows, somewhere down the line I might start watching sports again and be able to block out the negativity, but it's not worth it right now.
Plus all the freak accidents and injuries...weird things going on
