What's for Dinner?
I really did have a wonderful streak of making rice just right-fluffy without the crunch and without being gummy. But for the past few instances, my rice has had a little crunch; and I kept telling everyone that I know I will get it right next time. Afterall, my confidence was high because I knew I had been doing great.
So I was on the phone yesterday, getting ready to put chicken in the oven (I'm sorry chicken), and my husband saw that I also had the rice out and the pot. Next thing I know, he takes over, starts rewashing the pot, gets some butter, gets the rice bag, starts doing cup measurements etc

Let's fast forward to today, me and Moonflower and of course Luna are on the patio. We're amazed that it's cool enough to actually be out there. So anyway, I tell Moonflower that I'm starting to get hot so I'm going to go inside, eat an orange and then warm up the left over chicken and rice from yesterday.
Moonflower says: The rice was really really good yesterday
Me giggling: Well, I can't take credit for it. Your dad made it
Moonflower: I figured that out. As soon as I started eating it, it was so good I knew that dad had to make it or that mom just got lucky

Great Value Long Grain Enriched Rice
Man, wow! LOL. So of course dad got a good laugh out of this as well. He said he simply followed the directions, well so did I! I saw when he was making it, he had the rice in the water and told me to let him know when the water boils.
I said, I let the water boil first then I put the rice in, and then I turn the heat down and let it simmer.
He showed me the bag and the bag says his way, but I could have sworn it was the other way around, to let the water boil first.
Well, either way, the rice was really really good, even today after it sitting in the refrigerator....still no crunch. Even when mine would turn out good, it would get crunchy the next day.
I'll definitely get it right next time lol. I have definitely come a long way in the kitchen. Before Moonflower was born, I was pretty rough in the kitchen. My husband has always been the better cook but I've improved tremendously especially since I want my picky-eater child to be able to eat my cooking. She's not as picky as she used to be, so that's great. I think it was just a phase of being a little kid, it takes time to start trying different foods.
