Ever since Moonflower was born I had always wanted to walk with her from my UAB dorm room to the Optometry school. It's about having complete closure from that chapter in my life, and being so grateful that I am able to be a mom ![]()

My entire late teens/20's was spent with me not caring about the rest of life and being completely obsessed with becoming an Optometrist/eye doctor.
When I got accepted to UAB School of Optometry in 2000, man my life fell apart.
It was way too hard and plus I didn't even know I already had PTSD, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, OCD, untreated ADHD, Agoraphobia (fear of leaving the house, fear of public places), Major Depression (I knew this one) and lots more mental health issues. Lol funny but not funny.
So man...stress + underlying mental issues was a lot.
But once I became a mom, I realized that there is just so much more to everything...to me, to life, to everything. So the first (long) photo is me and Moonflower with the school in the background.

I did have a lump in my throat!
But it brought the final closure I always wanted because that was my former life....but funny enough when she was a baby I ended up working for an eye surgeon/Ophthalmologist who used to say I was smart.
Not something you hear everyday from someone on that level. People like that don't be having good social skills lol
The hiring lady was like "you know more about the eye than me." Well, it's because I was tortured in Optometry school
And the patients liked me so much. I will have to share on my own site/blog one day and post the link here, but some of the patients would be acting like I was qualified to diagnose them.
Are you people insane? The genius level of school and training it takes to be able to diagnose their conditions, any condition.
And I looked all but 20 years-old so it's very interesting how much the patients liked, respected and trusted me
I would be like "I'm not the doctor, and I legally can't give any opinions on your condition. The doctor will be in soon and he'll figure it out"...LOL!!!!
Doctors used to invite me to watch them performing eye surgery because I was in Optometry school so I had some very interesting experiences that I've started to cherish
I truly can't handle social media so I'll be posting more on my site and sharing the link here.
