Of course she's always liked Christmas; it's just naturally exciting and magical for kids. Somewhere along the way, maybe upper Elementary and middle school, some magic starts to disappear as kids just grow up and understand reality more.
Don't you just hate it how short-lived the fantasy is?
But it doesn't have to stay short-lived, we can just make sure the magic evolves.
There can still be a lot of excitement, beauty, tradition and fun as long as all the family and friends are good and our hearts are in it.
So since she was growing up, for the past few years Moonflower would kind of just be on her devices when I would be putting up the decorations. We stopped doing the full sized tree because Luna kept climbing in it lol.
So at first I wasn't going to worry about the full sized tree, especially since we kinda call it a Charlie Brown tree...someway somehow it has a lot of empty space. Definitely not a full tree but we've had it a few years and now it's starting to really gain meaning since we started laughing at the empty spaces with the branches.
I told Moonflower we won't be posting the full tree online; some things are just for your own personal memories 😄😄
We had a good time laughing as I was mentioning how the Pinterest-worthy images and even just regular people have Christmas decorations that just blow my little stash out the way. I be like my goodness, these people just be so calm and regular like, "I'm done with my Christmas decorations" and you look and it be like...wow, are you insane, look at your house!? Lol it just be so not regular...
So Moonflower helped with this tree arrangement that I came up with a few years ago; and she was asking for the other decorations, ornaments and the tree; so that's when it I realized wow, this is her first year as a big girl, a young lady, age 14, where she is into the Christmas Spirit.

We have a bunch of white lights that my mom gave me some years ago. So this is so interesting, when I was little everyone mostly had colorful lights. As time went on, white lights became the norm. Our trees were also full of ornaments of different sizes, different colors, and different textures. Known as "tacky" by today's Pinterest and social media standards.Β
So since white lights are so much norm, Moonflower was fascinated with the colored lights so I'm so glad we had some of those and we put them on her door!
She also decided we won't a themed tree or color scheme or anything, just have all types of mismatched ornaments on there; this is what she loves!Β
It's all so awesome because it's such a reflection of how Christmas was when I was little. Pretty was pretty, it didn't have to be color coordinated and all that.
Well we have lots of activities we will be trying to squeeze in with just these few weeks to go.
