I hate the Oscars, I hate Hollywood. Okay now that that is out the way-
And I hate that I care this much

But then again, no I don't hate that I care.

Because the fact is, it's not that I care about no damn Not Scars, it's that I care about people's feelings.
Just as a human, no one who has already had to face injustices, wants to be paraded around like a joke.

📕✏️Historical "Scars" is More Like It

Of course, I planned to totally not care about the "scars", but once Sinners got the 16 nominations I was pleasantly shocked but of course the next second, reality crept in and I became skeptical and just did not want these ray-cysts folks out of touch worthless over indulgent thinking they so important folks to be playing in folks faces and nominating the movie just to be cruel!

So that is the only reason I started to get emotionally invested in whether Sinners would win.

Because I was like it's just gonna be straight cruel if these bloated ray-cysts hoes nominate that movie just to disrespect it.
I would rather it just be ignored altogether.

Knowing our history in this country, chile, all I can say is I'm so elated that Ryan Cooglar got Original Screen Play and that Michael B. Jordan got Best Actor.

Those are huge for them on an individual level. Movie wise, you don't even remember which movies win as years go on, but individual names are what matters most. So though the night was going yt wacky, I am glad for these 2 wins because it's just a matter of basic decency and respect.
That's good about the other 2 wins as well, but having Ryan Cooglar be able to be on stage by himself and then Michael B. Jordan on stage by himself is incredibly relieving.Β

‼️❓The 16 Nominations: Were they Sinful or Sincere?

Look at me and my cute subtitle. Anyway...

Again, to be completely ignored is better than the emotional whiplash and extra power they exert by nominating you and then giving you nothing. I'm relieved that this did not happen tonight because psychologically that shit is brutal and it's nothing but a cheap power display.
It has nothing to do with art.

The Color Purple was nominated for 12 Oscars and won 1 for Costume Design. Thankfully back then, I was too young to know how this country was, but when I got older and learned about that, it felt disgusting.

That type of insult stings so much more over something that in the end, ain't important at all, but the powers-that-should-not-be make their little opinions so big, so thus, it just comes with the territory of being in that industry.

Look if I was good at making movies, lol, I would be like "Okay, I do not care how great my movie is, I'm not making it for the elite gaze and so I fully reject any and all nominations for any of those typical awards shows."

Seriously though, awards shows are....so useless and worthless, just the ultimate display of the ruling class being able to label who is worthy and who is not.
It's unfortunate that so much emotion rides on the opinions of these wanna-be masters, but hey, I can't do anything about this being just the way it is.

🎬❌Is the Show Still Going On?

My family was blowing our group chat up lol. I told my cat Luna that I was too chicken to watch. I was on the phone with my sis when I decided to be a little brave and turn on it for a second.Β

I said okay, look at Robert Downey Jr., they're about to do Best Original Screenplay. And I started asking her had Sinners won anything yet and she said No.
🤯
And then I saw how far they were into the show, I was like, OMG see...I'm about to turn this off. So before I even saw that Sinners was nominated..look, it was still showing the other nominated movies before I turned that sucker off lol!!

Then finally, someone posted in the group that Sinners won Best Original Screenplay and we were like, "Girl, that's just what we were watching. She said you just missed it Live. I'm like, I just couldn't stick it out lol.
Β
So we were all feeling relieved a little. By that time they had already lost 4. SMH.

So I told my fam that I won't turn it on, but to just post in the group chat any time they win.

🦗Crickets!

Chile that thang was not binging at all. I kept checking my IPAD like dang that was an hour ago when I said that, what the heck is happening.

Then I started hearing some notifications and I would hurry and get my IPAD and it would just be my family complaining about the results. My heart would drop.
I felt like, OMG, not another election night. Then I was like, girl get it together! Get it together cause you know this ain't as important as the election.
But it's just the emotions! My brain and heart were feelings just a tad similar.

So anyway, I was figured well, it's going rotten so I might as well turn on these scars and that was right in time to see
Michael
B.
Jordan
🙌🏽🥳🍾🎆🎇
win for Best Actor in a Leading Role.

Hell yeah!!

We were just typing and typing and then right then my husband (who used to love the Oscars but no longer watches at all, rightfully), walked past the TV
and saw Michael B. Jordan on stage and then he game the thumbs up. 👍🏾👍🏾
I didn't even say hey he won, because I was typing and I type so slow on the IPAD.

Sis said she screamed lol!! I was just...they kind of called his name before I was even ready so it came so fast that I didn't get to try and give like "say his name, say his name say his name" vibes. I know I'm not the only one that be like saying the name of the winner as if that is going to make them win.

🎵🎵Somebody Help Me
That little boy Miles Caton so cute 💝I mean I know he grown but I'm old so he's a kid to me lol.

I was taking my nap when my sis called to tell me about Misty Copeland and the other performers.
I was like dancers?
And I follow Misty Copeland on FB and saw where she had her surgery and boy she was barely walking, didn't she have to learn how to walk again? So this is so phenomenal I cannot wait, absolutely can't wait to watch this performance. My other sis in the group chat said "Faith missed it!!!!!"
Lol, I said I'mma watch the replay.

And so now, let me do just that as well as watch the replay of Ryan Cooglar winning (which I haven't seen at all yet) and Michael B. Jordan winning (only saw that once when I turned on the TV, and I can't wait to watch it more).
