on World Lizard Day. 🦎🦎🦎🦎August 14
I was walking into the laundry room not long after midnight, and a baby lizard sped by me and went under the washing machine. It looked more like a gecko or something.
It might have come in when we were taking out the trash or something. I was like okay lizard, you better find your way out before Luna senses you.
Lizard Queen
We have a screened patio & you know how nature is, lizards, salamanders and baby frogs tend to find their way on the patio. I guess they think Luna is friendly?
Now it's gonna sound like I do, but no, my house is not some reptile party spot. I don't have multiple lizards in my house at the same time. I'm talking over the span of the 5 years that we've been here, I have kept a lot of them alive from Luna. Sometimes on the patio, I would even be running towards the lizard with her so I could get to it before her...lol what a mess.
So I have had to rescue so many of these little creatures through the years. Luna will bring them in the house and bring them to whatever room I am in, and usually I would be asleep. Her claws would wake me up out of my sleep and I'd see her not being so friendly with the little creatures. I got good at grabbing them by the tail, and putting them out the house alive! I of course, hadn't been able to save every single one but I have definitely saved the majority. As for the baby frogs, I scoop them up into my palms.
If I can't grab them, then I get a jar. And even Moonflower had gotten good at capturing them too.
Well thankfully it's been a big decrease this year, in Luna bringing in her friends. It used to be like once or twice a month during the warm months, but this year has been a huge decrease thankfully. I was about to get some (ethical) type of lizard deterrent, you know some mint or lavender scents that they don't like. Haven't really needed to though
write some information about world lizard day, tailor it towards my warm tone, my love for animals, interesting facts, and any way any black people are related to lizard research and discoveries
